The Plusurbia team was honored for its work in garnering Federal Historic Designation for Miami’s Grove Park Neighborhood. With knowledge that the City of Miami’s former historic preservation officers believed that the Grove Park neighborhood, nestled between Loan Depot Park and the Miami River merited historic designation, in 2020, Dade Heritage Trust contracted with the planning firm Plusurbia to document the neighborhood and prepare the application to place the neighborhood on the National Register of Historic Places. Following both State and Federal guidelines requiring research, residential building and public space documentation, photography and neighborhood outreach efforts, Plusurbia completed the rigorous application process through COVID and beyond and submitted it to the State of Florida for review. After several amendments and additional documentation requirements, the State of Florida approved the application and passed it on to the United States Department of Interior. After federal review, on December 8, 2023 the Grove Park Historic District was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the first federal district listing in Miami since 2006.
