Join Dade Heritage Trust in the kitchen at the beautiful and historic Kampong, located on Biscayne Bay in Coconut Grove, Florida, The Kampong contains a fascinating array of tropical fruit cultivars and flowering trees. Named for the Malay or Javanese word for a village or cluster of houses, The Kampong is the former estate of Dr. David Fairchild, the famed botanical explorer who traveled throughout Southeast Asia and other tropical regions collecting exotic plants he introduced to the U.S.After a lovely continental breakfast and an overview of the morning, we will get busy learning how to make delicious banana bread with bananas from the Kampong’s own crop!! A tour of the historic bayfront estate is also included! Space is limited.

Baking in Historic Places is a new series presented by Dade Heritage Trust and a creative (and delicious) way to introduce participants to some of Miami’s most beautiful historic venues.
