Volunteer with the Environmentally Endangered Lands Program (EEL) at Hattie Bauer Preserve! Presented in partnership with Dade Heritage Trust, the Miami Dade County’s Environmental Education Forum welcomes community members to learn about the relationship between the county’s history and cultural resources and our native forests at Hattie Bauer Hammock, once the home of Orchid Jungle. Environmental and historic preservation organizations and government agencies will table at the event and attendees will receive an environmental passport courtesy of EEL. There will be guided tours of the hammock highlighting the native flora and fauna of the ecosystem. Volunteers can assist with removing invasive vines and learn about a new solution developed to tackle this problem. Attendees will have the opportunity to have their voices heard in a survey about the future of the preserve. The event will take place at the Preserve from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 26715 SW 157th Avenue, Miami.
